CBN stands for cannabinol, a cannabinoid found in cannabis. It forms as THC undergoes oxidation. Today, CBN appears in gummies, oils, and other products marketed for evening use.

But what is CBN—and does it help with sleep? Understanding the research, reading the complete formula, and knowing what remains uncertain can help you make a more informed choice.

Does CBN Help With Sleep?

Human research on CBN and sleep is still developing. Some findings are encouraging, but results are mixed.

Study 1.

A seven-night study published in 2024 included 293 participants in its analysis. Those receiving 20 mg of oral CBN reported fewer nighttime awakenings and less overall sleep disturbance than those receiving placebo. However, the study’s main measure of sleep quality did not improve significantly. Neither did the time it took to fall asleep. The study received industry funding. Read the 2024 CBN sleep study.

Study 2.

A smaller study published in 2026 tested CBN on individual nights in 20 adults with diagnosed insomnia. Neither dose significantly improved the primary outcome: time spent awake after initially falling asleep. The higher dose improved some secondary measures. Larger, longer studies are needed. Read the 2026 CBN insomnia study.

These studies do not establish guaranteed better sleep or treats insomnia. They also did not test Heal Again products. Research doses are not personal dosing recommendations.

CBN vs. CBD: What Is the Difference?

CBN means cannabinol. CBD means cannabidiol. They are different cannabinoids, even though their names look similar.

A product may contain CBN alone or combine it with CBD, THC, or other ingredients. For that reason, comparing products requires more than looking at the letters on the front label.

Check which cannabinoids are present, how much the product contains, and whether the amount refers to one serving or the entire container. Avoid assuming that it is simply a stronger version of CBD.

What Are CBN Gummies?

CBN gummies are edible products containing a stated amount of cannabinol. Their formulas vary: some contain other cannabinoids, melatonin, or additional ingredients.

Restore CBN Gummies contain 25 mg CBN isolate per gummy in mixed berry flavor. They are available in two sizes:

  • 10-count jar: 250 mg CBN total.
  • 30-count jar: 750 mg CBN total.

Read the current ingredient list and suggested use before choosing a product. The amount in the jar is different from the amount in one gummy.

How Are Gummies Different From a Roll-On?

Gummies are taken by mouth. A roll-on is applied to the skin according to its directions.

Sleep Again Nighttime Oil Roll-On contains 400 mg CBD and 200 mg CBN in a 1 fl oz bottle. It is for external use only.

Those amounts describe the entire bottle, not one application. They should not be compared directly with the milligrams in a gummy as though the two formats deliver an equivalent amount to the body.

Research on orally consumed CBN also does not establish the effects of a roll-on.

How Long Does CBN Take to Work?

There is no well-established onset time that applies to every CBN product.

The studies discussed here do not establish a dependable “works in 30 minutes” rule for commercial gummies. Products differ in their ingredients, format, and serving size.

Follow the product’s label rather than a general internet timing claim. Do not take extra servings simply because you do not notice an immediate effect.

What Are the Side Effects?

CBN’s safety profile is not yet fully understood, especially with long-term use.

The small 2026 trial recorded mild-to-moderate adverse events across its treatment and placebo groups. That does not establish that caused every reported event, but it also does not support describing CBN as free of side effects.

The complete formula matters. A product combining CBN with THC or other ingredients cannot be assessed as though it contains only CBN.

If you take medication or have a health condition, speak with your clinician or pharmacist before adding a cannabinoid product. Ongoing sleep problems deserve individualized care.

Does CBN Contain THC?

CBN and THC are different compounds. However, a finished product labeled “CBN” may also contain THC.

Do not assume that “CBN isolate” on a product description guarantees a THC-free finished product. Review the current label and relevant laboratory report.

Restore CBN Gummies carry a label statement of less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC. That statement does not mean zero THC.

Does CBN Show Up on a Drug Test?

A negative drug test cannot be guaranteed when using a CBN product.

THC in the finished formula is one consideration. Another is the test itself: a laboratory study found that CBN cross-reacted with two urine screening tests designed to detect a THC metabolite. This means CBN affected those screening results under the conditions tested. It does not mean every user will test positive on every test. Read the CBN drug-screening study.

If you are subject to drug testing, do not rely on “isolate” or “hemp-derived” wording as assurance that a product will not affect your result.

What Should You Look for in a CBN Product?

Start with clear, specific information:

  • Amount per serving: Distinguish one gummy from the total container.
  • Complete ingredients: Check for other cannabinoids and added ingredients.
  • Directions and warnings: Follow instructions for that particular format.
  • Laboratory results: Look for a relevant certificate of analysis and check which tests were performed.

A certificate of analysis reports results for the sample tested. It does not prove that a product will produce a particular health outcome.

Create a Steady Evening Routine

An evening routine can begin with simple habits. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute recommends consistent sleep and wake times, quiet time before bed, and a cool, dark, quiet bedroom. Explore NIH guidance on healthy sleep habits.

At Heal Again, Renew is an invitation to make that transition more deliberate. Put your phone aside. Open a book. Make room for a moment that belongs to you.

A caffeine-free tea can become part of that ritual. Vanilla Rooibos Tea combines rooibos, apple, vanilla bean, and cinnamon chips. Digestive Blend Tea brings together fennel, peppermint, ginger, lemon balm, chamomile, and orange peel.

Steep either blend for 5–7 minutes. Cover your cup while steeping to help retain the aromatic essential oils.

The Nightfall Collection includes both teas, 30-count Restore CBN Gummies, and Sleep Again Nighttime Oil Roll-On. Follow each product’s individual directions; a collection is not a clinical treatment plan.

Choose thoughtfully. Keep your routine manageable. Let clear information guide your next step.

Strong roots. Great growth.
